Immigration Update: USCIS H-1B Cap Lottery Closed for Fiscal Year 2025
By: Jan Pederson
USCIS announced on April 1, 2025 that it had received sufficient electronic H-1B registration to reach the annual H-1B cap subject limit of 85,000 for fiscal year 2025. Congratulations to the winners! We have notified our clients who won the lottery. For those who were selected in the lottery, the H-1B petitions may be filed with USCIS beginning April 1, 2024 and must be filed no later than June 30, 2024. That is the good news!
The other news is the H-1B filing fees have increased exponentially beginning April 1, 2024 and a new petition must be used. There is no grace period for using a version prior to April 1, 2024.
Please contact Jan Pederson, leader of our Immigration Team for a consultation on next steps or options to pursue if your H-1B worker did not win the lottery. Please email Corey at legalassistant@wcslaw.viewmysitenow.com to schedule an appointment.
